چکیده
Partial admission turbines typically operate to counteract fluctuations while maintaining high efficiency. However, partial admission causes additional losses depending on several parameters, including turbine geometry, which influences flow distribution at rotor inlet and outlet. This study investigates the design and simulation of a partial admission axial flow turbine, a modern type for converting mechanical energy of water into electricity, with a geometry including rotor, flow channel, blades, and stator. The common blade Cp-180-050-gn was selected in three rows of 18 blades each, and stators were designed in three states, placed at different angles at the nozzle inlet, between blade rows, and at the diffuser outlet. Aerodynamics of the channel, blades, and stator were simulated using Ansys Fluent to identify an optimal configuration of turbine components regarding aerodynamic forces. The results show that the static pressure difference of blades increases significantly compared to the previous row, with the difference between the first and third rotor rows reaching 94%. Thus, three rows of blades are appropriate. Furthermore, analysis of the lift force on blades indicates that 18 blades per row are sufficient. For the stator, considering the ratio of pressure difference between the first and fourth rows at 77.41%, three stator rows are recommended. This work demonstrates how aerodynamic analysis can guide turbine component design, improving efficiency while mitigating partial admission losses.
